The Ruth Chris Steakhouse chain's restaurant in Arlington's Crystal City is located on the 11th floor and has sweeping views of Ronald Reagan National Airport and downtown DC. The atmosphere leans towards men's clubhouse with plush carpets and comfy dining chairs and low lighting. For the best views of the Capitol and monuments, ask to be seated in the bar (no worries, it's non-smoking). The other rooms have views of the airport if that's your thing. Apparently many diners request the airport view seating.
Prices are on the high side, but the quality of the meat and the unique preparation (Ruth Chris' signature 1800 degree searing) make it a great destination for the carnivore. Other meat choices include lamb chops and chicken. The menu also offers lobster - Maine by the pound and carribean lobster tails at market price. There are several seafood starters and entrees, including crab cakes, scallops, shrimp or crab cocktails, grilled salmon and an ahi tuna stack to name several. All sides are a la carte, so if you order the steak - that is all you will receive. Sides are pricey with a potatoe dish (baked, fried, steak fries, au gratin or mashed) running $8 - 10. Vegetables are similarly priced and include asparagus, broccoli, sauteed spinach, and broccoli or spinach au gratin.
If you are driving, take advantage of the $5 valet parking. Parking garages in the area are more expensive. The restaurant can also be accessed via metro at the Crystal City stop on the Blue Line.
