There is plenty of information about Amarillo available online, which can be very useful to people planning a trip to the area.

Make the Amarillo Visitor Information Center located at the Amarillo Civic Center (401 S. Buchanan Entrance #2) your very first stop! They're open 8 to 5, 7 days a week and will give you all the information you can handle. They also have Route 66, Amarillo, and Texas merchandise.

A good place to begin doing some preliminary research is on the Amarillo Convention and Visitor's Council website.  This site has loads of useful links providing information on restaurants (local and chain), hotels, B&Bs, RV and Campsites, where to go, what to see, and more.

The City of Amarillo website is another option for finding information about the area.  This site is geared more towards the local community, but tourists can benefit from it and the Civic Center Events Calendar.

A good way to get to know an unfamiliar area better is by studying its geography.  Get started by looking at a Map of the USA, a Map of Texas, and a Map of Amarillo.
