You've laid on the beach of the blue lagoon, climbed to the rock tombs of Fethiye and you've sailed round the 12 islands, but what are you going to do when you're hungry? Visit the fish market in Fethiye that's what to do. It's hard to find but it's worth searching out. It's half way between the dolimus stop and the old bazaar. it's in behind an arcade of shops in a secret courtyard. In their you'll find a bustling market full of the freshest fish you'll ever see. Tuna, swordfish, squid, crab, sea bream, sea bass and gigantic jumbo king prawns.
It's a magical little setting; open to the skies, shady branches and the hustle of day life going on round about you. The fish stalls are surrounded by little restaurants vying for your trade. You take your fish to the restaurant and pay 5lira and they will cook it for you however you want. you get bread, sauce and salad for your money. the restaurants all have a lovely section of mezze as well.
It really is one of the best things to do. when you've been once you'll go back again as the selection of fish is amazing.
we ate sea bream, swordfish, tuna, sea bass, calimari. the prawns are delicious fried in butter, garlic and chilli. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
