Lapad bay came as a surprise, given how little info there is on the net about it. It is a very relaxing and at the same time well provided base to visit Dubrovnik, with a lovely pedestrian promenade with outdoor terrace cafes overlooking the sea, which are all very close to the hotels, patisserie, supermarket, cash machines and the bus stop for the old town. However, the pleasant surprise was the coastal path, which was basically a continuation of the promenade along the sea-front. This carries through along the rocky coast, with the sea on one side and the hill-side and forest on the other side. People were swimming and bathing off the rocks near the path, and there were a few cafes here and there overlooking the sea, which would be worth trying for an al-fresco lunch. Prices were slightly cheaper than those on the promenade near the hotels, and the sea views much better. There were also a few signs for rental apartments. The path leads out to the mouth of the Lapad bay and around to another bay with a stunning vista across the Dalmatic coast. It is a place to spend a very relaxed day while taking in the fresh air and relaxing views.
