Sarajevo has a rich arts scene and a number of festivals throughout the year focus on the city's eclectic cultural history. A few highlights highlights of Sarajevo's social calendar include:

Nights of Bascarsija -- this festival, held throughout the month of July, includes dance, music, and theatrical performances.

International Festival of Folk Dances -- this festival, held annually in early July, features a large number of, well, what else, but folk dance performances.

Sarajevo film festival-- this annual event is held in early August. This film festival focuses on regional feature, short, and documentary films, with competition open to eastern European countries. The best about this festival is that the town looks like big open scene. So there are lots of concerts, how organised in halls, but also in live music and bands in pub. The locals said it is the most lively part of the year and you do not have a problem stay out until dawn.

International Theatre Festival -- this festival, held annually in October, features a number of theatrical performances, including classic and modern works.

Jazz Fest Sarajevo -- held annually in November, this festival features a number of jazz performances by a number of regional and international performers.
