Surfing

 


 

The best surfing site in Eastern Visayas region is at Calicoan Island in Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

It is included as one of the circuits of the Siargao Internatioanl Surfboarding competition.

Calicoan Island boast of a surfing front of its beaches facing Pacific Ocean while the other side facing the Leyte Gulf  is ideal for swimming. It boast of prestine white sands.


Swimming

Boracay is the most famous beach the world over which foreign and local like to go. It boasts of powdery white sands which is very cool in even on mid-day. The island is in the Panay group of islands.

Panglao is the other island which is starting to attract local travellers since it also boast of whites sands almost as fine as Boracay's. The island is in the Bohol group of island.


Diving

The Visayas region boast of great diving sites such as in Balicasag Island and Sogod Bay among the many sites.


Caving & Mountain Climbing

Great caving adventure can done in Samar Island. Massive caves can be found in the island. Mountain climbing is great in the islands of Negros, Leyte, Samar and Biliran.

Historical Sites

 


 

Visayas has so many historical sites dating back to the 15th century such as churches, war shrines and many more. The Portuguese navigator Magellan first made stops in the Visayas most particularly in Samar and Leyte en route to Cebu where he meet his tragic fate.
