Bogawantalawa Valley, known as the Golden Valley of Tea, is the most beautiful Tea Garden there is to see in Sri Lanka. The road through the valley is not a trunk route, and the road is not carpeted or broad, but well worth the detour. You can approach Bogo from Watawala (on the Avissawella-Hatton Road) or from Balangoda (Ratnapura Road).
Be prepared to take the trip at a leisurely pace and enjoy every bit of it. There are water falls, tea estates, summer huts on the way, which MUST be explored and experienced. The Castlereagh Reservoir is a must see and there are numerous breathtaking views from vantage points around the valley.
