A little off the beaten track but certainly worth a visit is Bar Ice Samui. This -7 degree bar is great fun and the staff are very friendly. (a few real cuties there too) Loads of flavored Vodkas. The best night in 10 days was here. Second the comments about Ark Bar. It was low season but this place seemed to be busy any night. Also check out Happy Elephant restaurant in Fishermans village, a little more expensive but great food and stunning ambience.
Henry Africa's Samui Over the years, the backpacker's secret of Ko Samui has become known to tourists worldwide and today is a hotspot for nightlife. The island offers everything from upscale, gourmet restaurants, to wild dance parties.
The main hub of club and bar activity exists at Chaweng Beach. Green Mango itself is a club attracting young partygoers. The street its on "Soi Green Mango" is the main drag when it comes to bars. Any night in Soi Green Mango should start at Henry Africa's Bar the best pub style bar in Samui - Enjoy a drink in a glass, bottle or bucket you also must try their famous buy five get one free shots. Happy hour, costumes, a pool, and big name DJs can be found at Sounds Bar. But, The Mint Bar nearby, equally competes with its impressive line up of DJs.
Anyone who has not visited Viking Bar in this soi is missing out what real fun is all about. Prices here are the best on the street and you will get quality as well. Their strong buckets are well worth the price with either a full 33cl bottle of Sangsom or 24cl of Vodka for a bucket that comes with two other mixers. Even the light buckets are no joke as they have 9cl worth of alcohol in it. And if you are game for it, try their 11 shots (for guys) or 7 shots (for ladies) competition and see if you can match those already on the board.
Another place to try is the The Ark Bar - hard to find from the street, but if you just walk along Chaweng beach it's easy to spot. They have great DJ's every Wednesday night, with cheap alcohol in buckets and hawkers selling firecrackers and "Lucky balloons." The bar next door The Green Stone is another great place and it has free pool.
Lamai Beach town's nightlife scene is slightly smaller than that of Chaweng Beach. But great bar culture does thrive here, notably at Buddy Beer Bar, Fusion, and the Siam Bar and Grill.
Ko Samui is famous for its full moon parties. The best of these takes place at Ko Phangan and it is basically a hedonistic party, perhaps the world's largest beach party. Times and exact locations may change, therefore consult a travel agent to get set up with your tickets to party paradise.
Just a note re fireworks on Samui, the Government has closed the firework shops,as there was too much late late night big bangs over Chaweng Beach-mostly near the Ark Bar,you can only see fireworks if you book a show with a professional operator- fireworksamui com, then the shows are before 10pm and safe!-thanks
