Arroyo Grande (“AG” to locals) is a charming and historic village on scenic Highways 101 and 1 just inland from Pismo Beach . Originally a farming town, it still has fruit and vegetable farms, and now several world-class wineries as well. AG has a well-maintained genuine-Victorian downtown, now filled with boutique stores. The modern Clark Center for the Performing Arts presents many touring national shows. Lopez Lake Reservoir offers boating and fishing. AG also offers a wide variety of other activities: antiquing, shopping, golf, biking, wine tasting and more. There are two Farmers Markets every week -including one downtown Saturday mornings- and several downtown events through the year. The local Historical Society has many old buildings open for tours, and the historic hamlet of Halcyon with its beautiful Temple is next to AG. AG offers many inexpensive to mid-price restaurants and motels.
Bikers enjoy Huasna Road due to its light traffic, scenic views and well maintained pavement.
