When the weater is fine the Great Hungarian Plain (Alföld) is a great opportunity to visit from Budapest - so why not making a day trip there? It's just about 180km to drive and you are at the amazing Hungarian National Park Hortobágy - The Puszta. Puszta, stud, great fishpond, Tisza Lake - it's all here where you have endless opportunities for sport activities such as biking, riding, boating.
Puszta means literally a treeless land, and it is the best description of these huge Hungarian steppes. This may not sound too exciting, but there are many nice Puszta shows with amazing horsemanship. Magyar wranglers ride horses standing on the horseback, often with many horses (Puszta fiver).
