You need a car and you don't need a car. If you decide to stay at the hotel and enjoy the beach and the bars on the East and West sides and walk along Main Street, you don’t need a car.

But, if you decide that you get around the island, know the hinterland, visit villages and towns,  know historical sites or just have a good time at other beaches, a car is a nice option. Distances are short in the island and from Arenal you can reach the farthest spot in less than three hours. You can visit villages such as Calvia in the north east of the island, the fishing villages all the way to San Telmo, and continue to Pollenca a beautiful port and artistic resort in the far north. All locations boast spectacular architecture with churches, castles, towers, monasteries, and convents from the 12th to 17th centuries.

There are also buses that reach every resort in the island. Consider biking to go to those destinations near Arenal. You can combine bijing with bus or biking with a historic train in the section Port Soller-Palma/Cala Blava.
