If you intend going on one of the cruises to Low Isles with one of the Port Douglas operators check whether or not you can visit the islands. Some tours do not land there. Also it will be useful to check what the state of the tide will be when you are there. If it is likely to be low tide then your trip will not be so enjoyable because clearance over the reef will be restricted. Also check on the wind direction. If it is off shore then again your trip will not be as good as it could have been because of likely murky water. The beginning and end of the stinger season are not exact dates and if you are visiting during these periods and do not want to have to wear a Lycra stinger suit then check what are the operators current recommendations before you book.
