Because of its location in the Swiss Alps, the weather in Ascona is fairly cool year-round.  During the summer months, the high temperatures in the area average in the high 70's, but temperatures in the 60's are quite common.  Summer weather is generally cool and clear with low humidity. 

Winters in Ascona can get quite cold, especially in December and January when the temperatures can average as low as the teens.  By April, however, spring is usually in full swing in the region, temperatures climbing into the high 50's during the day.

Ascona gets its largest share of precipitation during the spring and fall seasons, averaging about 5 inches of rain per month.  The city gets the least amount of rainfall during the winter.  From December through March the area only gets about two inches of precipitation per month.
