Montecatini Terme is a major Italian tourist destination, and as such, it offers its visitors plenty of sports and activities to keep them busy.
Being one of Europe’s main spa destinations, the major draw of Montecatini Terme is its wealth of thermal spas. There are numerous spas throughout the city, each one offering something different, but all having basic similarities. The Terme di Montecatini Spa website is a great resource for figuring out which of the area’s nine spas to visit. This site highlights many of the luxurious amenities available to visitors, making it obvious why this city has become a world class destination. The “Spas” link on the right hand site of the home page provides detailed information about each location in the city. There is also a “Sport” link that contains information about golf, tennis, horseback riding, shooting, and yoga.
There are five gymnasiums and fitness centers in town, which are all accessible to the general public. In addition to the ones offered by the spas, there are a few tennis courts throughout the city.
There are at least two high quality Swimmingpools/ restaurant bars that appeal to younger people. Open all day, entry c10 euro. Spend the day at LaVilla Resort Piscina relax. (open 2 months Aug 07). High quality decor and facilities, loungers, great design and nice food. Open 10 -7pm. Via del Poggetto. Pieve a Nievole just outside town, take a taxi but plenty of parking.0572.954111. Also there is Le Panteraie in town outskirts. Probably crowded on sundays only..
A great way to spend a day in Montecatini Terme is renting a bike and going sightseeing. There are many interesting things to be seen so make sure to bring a camera.
