Within the confines of the town, there is a great deal to do for all different tastes. Within walking distance of the town centre, there is the Marina, which happens to be the largest in Ireland, which is occupied year round by luxery cruisers owned by the rich and famous and which is flanked by piers with large fishing vessels often moored here. This area of the town plays host to a number of large festivals during the summer months which are well worth taking in if you get the chance. Just past the Marina, there is Pickie Fun Park, which is a great destination for familys. More great destinations within walking distance of the town centre include, Ward Park, Castle Park, the picturesque Bangor Castle (Town Hall) as well as Ballyholme Bay.

 As far as entertainment is concerned, Bangor has a multi-screen cinema and Bingo Hall situated at one end of Castle Park at the back of Bangor Castle. As well as this, there a number of major shopping centres and retail parks all situated along the main ring road which you will pass or use on your way into the town. The town also has a number of sports teams who regularly play each weekend, including Bangor FC who play at Clandeboye Park ,a short walk from the town centre.

The Nightlife of the town is centred on High Street, with a number of bars and clubs open throughout the week. There are also some great bars and hotels off Main Street and along Quay Street.

 Further out of town, use a car or public transport to visit the picturesque villages of Helen's Bay and Crawfordsburn, which also host Crawfordsburn Country Park and Gray Fort in there vicinity.
