I have in the past, hired from Alamo, but having never needed to amend bookings, found them straight forward. This recent ( Sept 9th 2016) has been an episode I will NEVER repeat and would like to warn potential future ALAMO customers, to SHOP around. Booked at car hire for pick up SFO 9 Sept. Upon arrival the lines were out the door at the Check in Counter as well as the self serve. I approached the self serve but the computer could not find my reservation... Long story short, my booking it appears, did not generate via the free WIFI at SYD airport only day of departure. The Staff member SFO took my rental as a 'Walk up' saying they were not to be doing this, but quickly give him my details. He also said that the Insurance ( which I NEVER Accept) was only $20 more. As the lines of passengers were cramming me as the Drivers Licence recognitions computer was not working, people were now getting very angry. I had just arrived from a 14Hour flight and could not tolerate the anger and aggressive scene that was being played out behind me , so I said 'Yes' to what ever the staff member was asking me ... ' Sign here' Yes... "Do you need Maps" Yes, "sign here". !! etc etc.... Yes I should have looked at the Contract while I was in front of the ALAMO Desk, that was charging me $250 USD for a Three Day Car Hire !!!! I called ALAMO 7 times, spoke with Numerous staff, and a Supervisor mohammed, who all could do absolutely nothing to assist as I had to call the SFO location. The Phone number next to the SFO International airport address, listed a phone number.... I was advised that this number is NOT SFO I have called the wrong number.... 7th Phone all, i just lost it... I had a staff member send an email to WILSON, The Manager at SFO requesting him to CALL ME .... Now the 13th Sept no call... Am I surprised.!! Phone connections constantly dropped out. Im in Santa Cruz !! The Staff were NO help what so ever. I ended up taking the car back one day early to Monterey Airport and literally telling everyone in line, the disastrous experience with ALAMO, and vowing NEVER to use them again.... ALAMO you have debited me Insurances, that I did NOT WANT. Your code of Business conduct, is absolutely dreadful ...you should be embarrassed, to ask customers for their review of your company.... NEVER EVER AGAIN......
