Note that if there are four of you, a taxi may be more practical, there will be no waiting and could even work out cheaper financially .

At the Gudja airport arrivals Lounge  and at the Valletta seaport terminal there are booths that sell tickets for the taxis.  The fees are at fixed prices for each destination and this method ensures control that you will not be over charged by the driver . This service is offered 24/7 and you do not need to prebook, since taxis are on call outside the arrivals terminal at all times .You pay at the booth and are given a ticket to present to the cab driver waiting in line at the stand.   These are the official rates for taxi’s  http://www.maltairport.com/page.asp?p...

As a security measure, the Taxi stand is under 24/7 CCTV surveillance and you are recorded on video as you board the Taxi by more than one camera.  Taxi companies are quite reliable and complaints are rare (as long as you agree fares in advance).  The best policy is to get details from various companies and compare them.  There are many local companies in a number of towns and resorts that offer a good service with very reasonable costs.

Approximate Taxi journey times from the airport are as follows:

  •  Sliema /  St Julians /  Valletta Area   =30 mins
  •  St Paul's Bay /  Xemxija  / Rabat Area  = 45 mins
  •  Mellieha /  Marfa / Cirkewwa  =  60 mins

Below is a list of companies that have been mentioned on TA or added onto this FAQ.  This is not an official  list of recommended companies, but a good start to your search for possible transport.  It always pays to check out other companies and compare prices but some are more reliable than others so before you make a booking, please read the posts on this thread.  Since this is an open forum, Taxi companies may change it to put their link first, therefore be wise and pick your links randomly .

There are also companies that operate airport/hotel transfers.  You buy a ticket and travel with other passengers arriving on flights at a similar time to your own.  As soon as all these passengers have arrived, you will be transported to your destination or to destinations on the same route.  Check out these sites and see which is most suitable for your needs.  Some guarantee that you will not have to wait more than 20 minutes.
