On the evening of the first Friday of every summer month (May through August), Helsinki's streets overflow with muscle cars and classic American cars. Finland has a suprising number of people who love vintage American cars, and when winter gives way to summer, you will find them beginning to assemble in Helsinki to see and be seen.
The crowd converges at the Old Market Square, next to the main harbor. From there, the drivers will strut their stuff by cruising around Esplanade Park, or south around the edge of Well Park (Kaivopuisto) and back again. The parking lot next to the Helsinki Ice Hall (about a mile north of the downtown area, on the northern edge of the Olympic Park) is another spot to park and gawk.
