Madeira can be visited year round, but certain months offer more comfortable weather patterns than others.

Madeira´s temperatures throughout the year are very comfortable.  The hottest months of the year are August and September, during which time the average high temperatures are in the upper 70’s, with days reaching the lower 80’ being fairly common.  The evening temperatures during these months will usually drop to the lower 60’s.  The coolest months of the year are January and February, during which time the average high temperatures are in the mid 60’s, with days reaching the 70’s fairly common.  The nighttime temperatures during these months will generally hover in the mid 50’s.  Note that regardless of when you visit Madeira, if you plan on going into high altitudes, you should bring warm clothing as the temperature differences can be drastic.

Although temperatures will not deter many travelers to the area, the precipitation rates during certain months might.  The rainy season is between November and February, during which time rolling clouds and frequent rainstorms are typical.  Most days during this time will have at least one rainstorm passing through.  The months between May and August are the driest of the year.  During this time, precipitation is not typical, and there is much sunshine to be enjoyed. Have a look on real time what the weather looks like, all over the island, on one of the Madeira-webcams.
