The Monte Rosa Hut is a mountain hut located near Zermatt at the foot of Monte Rosa (4,634 m) at an altitude of 2,795 metres. The new hut was opened in 2009, at an altitude of 2,883 metres. The easy way is to get the Gornergrat train up from Zermatt to Rotenboden, then follow the waymarked path from there to the glacier.
There is a glacier crossing involved, so you should have crampons, a climbing harness and a rope, and know how to use them.
