Alghero Surroundings and Old Town (Monday Afternoon – Half Day – Dep. Time: 14.00). Visit to the Alghero surrounding area with local stops for a brief look at the "Nuraghe di Palmavera" (entrance not included), the magnificient Bay of Porto Conte, photo stop of the "Foradada Island" and the breathtaking Promontory of Capo Caccia. Along the road stop at a local wine-cellar for a visit of the canteen and some wine-tasting of the local products. Drive from Alghero towards the east coast of Sardinia, passing the ancient and enchanting “Basilica di Saccargia” make your way to the “Emerald Coast”. First stop is at Porto Cervo, a millionaires’ paradise, with its magnificent squares, luxury shops, marina and beautiful villas set against breathtaking Mediterranean scenery and an emerald green sea. The trip then goes on to Baia Sardinia where stop for a lunch break and time at leisure in one of the area’s prettiest coves. (Please note, lunch is not included in the price of the trip). Stintino (Wednesday Afternoon – Half Day – Dep. Time 14.00). A relaxing trip that takes through the countryside to Stintino, a pretty little town not far from Alghero, formerly an important tuna fishing centre. En route stop at the beautiful “Pelosa Beach” for a magnificent view of “Asinara Island”, once home to one of Italy’s most notorious high security prisons but now a nature reserve. At Pelosa Beach have time for a swim in the turquoise coloured sea before continuing on to Stintino village. In Stintino have time to visit the old port and take a stroll through the charming narrow streets with their characteristic shops. Bosa & Typcial Sardinian Lunch (Thursday - Full Day - Dep. Time 08.00). This is without doubt one of the most exciting and interesting trips, offering the chance to discover the real side of rural Sardinia. Drive along the panoramic coast road to Bosa, situated on the mouth of the river Temo, an important tourist resort famous for its production of lace and the imposing Serravalle Castle. From Bosa the tour travels inland driving through a few small but charming towns afterwhich stop to enjoy a typical Sardinian lunch (Please note lunch is included in the price of the trip). The menu comprises of regional dishes including various starters, a local made pasta dish, spit roasted pork and veal, cheese, fruit and a selection of traditional Sardinian ‘dolci’ – small almond cakes and biscuits – all washed down with an endless supply of local wine and water. Castlesardo (Friday Morning – Half Day – Dep. Time 08.30). This trip takes on a tour of the area just north of Alghero along a panoramic coastal road visiting the charming town of Castelsardo built on a promontory overlooking the sea and the town below. Stop at the “Doria Castle", a fascinating middle-age structure. A guide will give a brief explanation into the history of the site (Please note the entrance is not included in the price of the trip). Continue with a walking tour of the old town where still today one can see the women weave their baskets on the streets. There is a visit to a local handicraft laboratory for which the town is famous. The trip culminates with a stop to admire a fantastic rock formation nearby called "Elephant Rock".
