Ice cream in Turin is a tradition. Summer or winter, the usual saturday walk in the center of Turin is not complete without a nice cone of ice cream, may be enriched by whipped cream.

You can find ice cream everywhere but the following are known to be the best in town (you may disagree – it is a matter of taste)

  1. Fiorio – via Po n. 8. It is an historical café, founded in 1780. It used to be attended by diplomats and aristocracy. The interior is still in the style of those days. You can find the same ice cream also in Piazza San Carlo at the Caffè San Carlo.
  2. Miretti – Corso Matteotti 5. Try the Belgian chocolate.
  3. Silvano – via Nizza 142. Special taste: Pistachio
  4. Eataly, Agrigelateria Santa Pè – via Nizza n. 280
  5. Pepino – Piazza Carignano.  Opened in the late 1800 and invented the “pinguino”, vanilla ice cream on a stick covered with chocolate.
  6. Grom.  They have two shops in town, one on Piazza Paleocapa, a stone's throw from the Porta Nuova train station, and another on Via Accademia delle Scienze.  They also have other locations in Italy, as well as a shop in New York City -- of all places -- see -- but their headquarters are in Turin. A bit more expensive than the average, but yummy.....
