Several shopping options are available to visitors to Stuttgart in all parts of the city.  Specialty shops, department stores, cafés, and boutiques can all be found for shoppers to enjoy on Stuttgart's Köingstrasse , or shopping mile.  This kilometer-long group of shops begins at the city's central train station and also contains green parks and a performance area for live music and street performers.

Another popular shopping area in the city is Markthalle , or the Market Hall, a gourmet food and farmers' market.  This marketplace, built in 1914, is the shopping ground for almost all of the city's chefs.  It is known for its high-quality produce and exotic imported foods.  It is a great place to visit just for the experience, or to buy a few items for a picnic lunch.

The old part of the city is also home to some good shopping.  Known as the Bohnenviertel, or the Bean Quarter, this section of Stuttgart is full of high fashion boutiques, art galleries, and gift shops all nestled among the area's beautiful, old buildings.
