In addition to its rich cultural history St-Rémy-de-Provence offers visitors several activities. Biking, horseback riding, hiking, tennis and off-the-beaten-path activities such as art lessons are readily available to the adventurous traveler who will not only enjoy what he or she is doing, but will often have the opportunity to spend time in the area's beautiful natural surroundings.
Bicyles are popular in St-Rémy, with many residents owning and using one for daily transportation. Visitors can rent bicycles to go out exploring on their own--or to lessen their dependence on cars and taxis. Mountain bikes can also be rented for use in the town's off-road locations. Two locations in St-Rémy make rentals: Bruno Ferri on ave de la Liberation (04 90 92 10 88), and Telecycle in Quartier de Dorthes (04 90 92 83 15). Call for prices and directions.
For those in possession of a valid motorcycle licence motorbikes, sidecars and scooters are available for rental at Classic Bike Esprit (04 90 26 03 19) found in the ZA de la Gare. Straight rental or guided tour options available, and sidecar training for those uninitiated in the art of 3 wheel riding.
The even more adventurous can rent themselves what the French call a quad, more commonly known in the U.S. as an all terrain vehicle, to tool around on. They are available at Provence Quad Location in St-Rémy, but be sure that you are familiar with all safety regulations and know how to ride an ATV before renting one. They can be dangerous even for experienced riders.
