A shuttle train runs from the out of town Avignon TGV station to the town station in Avignon and back again. It replaces the shuttle bus, which stopped running in early 2014.

The TGV (high speed train) arrives at one platform at Avignon TGV station, you get off the train and walk to the other platform for the regional (TER ) train, which takes you into Avignon Centre.

On arrival Avignon Central station it's a short walk across the road into the town. The route goes via Cours Jean Jaurès, which changes to Rue de la Republique and arrives at Place de l'Horloge, with the Palais des Papes a little further on.

On the way is the Tourist Office on the right hand side of the road, with helpful and a useful stop for picking up maps, information on everything concerning Avignon and the general area, plus details of tours etc, which can be booked there.

The shuttle train to costs 1.60€ for a single trip, which is bought at the ticket machine. It takes about 5 minutes to reach Avignon. However, if you are travelling on Eurostar, your Eurostar ticket covers the short shuttle train ride.

Timetable until December 2016, which will drop you the PDF file:
