Most people heading to Bayeux start from Paris or Rennes. From Paris, Bayeux is only 267 kilometers and one can easily drive there or take the trains system. For train information within France visit SNCF or TGV's websites. By train from Paris it will only take about two and a half hours. The train station will link you however, from virtually any destination within France.

From Paris, the train leaves from Paris St Lazare and costs about 35Euros each way (2nd class). Take the train for 'Cherbourg' as Bayeux is en route, or you may have to change at Caen before Bayeux. The station in Bayeux is about 10-20 minutes from the town centre. You can walk there if you have a rucksack, but with suitcases, its probably best to take a taxi (only about 5 Euros). You can also buy tickets from the machines (in English) in most train stations in France and pay with a chipped debit card. Don't forget to stamp your train ticket before you leave - just pop it into one the little yellow machines.

Driving to Bayeux will make for a great experience in the French countryside. From Paris simply follow the A13 and from nearby Rennes, take the A34.

Arriving by ferry is another fun and easy way of getting to or departing to and from Bayeux from either England or Ireland. The Brittany Ferry and P&O ferries serve many cities in the area. A popular way many come to Bayeux is from the ferry that leaves from Portsmouth, England and arrives in Cherbourg France; in Cherbourg you can rent a car and finish the journey to Bayeux. Remember to bring your EU card or passport on the ferry! Another route is from Portsmouth to Caen, although if you come this way be aware that the ferry actually arrives in Ouistreham, about a 20-minute ride from Caen. There is a bus from the Ouistreham port to the Caen railway staion where the car rental places are located. It is then an easy 30-minute drive to Bayeux.

One can also easily fly into nearby Caen which has an international airport. Upon arrival in Caen, one can easily rent a car and make the quick drive to Bayeux or take a train.
