Here is a list of many coffee places in Cardiff:
Starting with the Chain Stores:-
Starbucks, Costa Coffee and Caffe Nero - All average at best, expensive, slightly watery and bitter on occasions (Caffe Latte's & Cappucino's)
Starbucks Mocha is the best delicately balancing the coffee and chocolate well. Caffe Nero does a damn good Frappucino and the new coolers (banana and caramel especially) are indulgent but sickly.
Costa can be stingy with their measures and you may have to take your coffee back if it is half full of foam and no coffee!
Coffee # 1 - Again an average coffee from one of the chains. Mocha's are slightly better.
Atlantic Coffee - Joint top for Best Coffee in Cardiff. Definitely recommend. Rich milky coffee and friendly staff.
I Love Coffee - Joint Top. In St David's Centre next to M & S. Hot, frothy and tasty coffee. You'll be tempted by the cookies and muffins too. Mocha's are pretty good also.
Garlands Eatery and Coffee House - Nice cute cafe. Coffee is pleasant and the vegetarian breakfast is delicious.
Wally's Kaffeehaus - Earl Grey Tea, your first attempt could be the last attempt. Strange set up above well stocked deli. Seems dated and quiet, even in the middle of lunch.
The Plan - Very nice lunch with a top notch coffee.
Coffee Barker - Decent coffee but it may not be hot enough. It could be a struggle to find a seat but it is a quirky place with a pleasant atmosphere.
Coffee Heaven - On St Mary Street. Great relaxing environment, good coffee.
M & S - Not bad.
John Lewis - Standard, nothing special.
Pillars - Alright. Caters to an older crowd.
Sandwiched in the City - Nice coffee and great baguettes in a secret arcade off Queen Street.
The Great Western - All its good for is cheap beer if you don't care where you are or too drunk to care. Wouldn't recommend.
Torre Coffee - Opposite the Castle, nice use of the original decorative features. Mismatched furniture and friendly staff. Decent coffee too!
Cafe Jazz - Dated and is reflected in the drinks. Good for people watching ;-)
Cafe Rouge - Cold coffee... grrrr.
The Marriott - Hot latte hits the spot.
Hope this helps coffee lovers of Cardiff!
