Whitby is a British seaside town and as such is famous for its fish and chips! There are a great many traditional fish and chip shops in the Whitby harbour area, including the Magpie Cafe (as favoured by TV chef Rick Stein) and the ever popular Trenchers.
Botham's of Whitby is rather like a smaller 'Betty's' (in York and Harrogate) and does lovely teas and tea breads as well as the famous Yorkshire Brack.
The town is particularly associated with kippers (smoked herrings) and Fortunes kippers is the last remaining traditional smokehouse in Whitby.
