Built in 1847 to a design by Yorkshire architect, Isaac Smith, this is a working legislature as well as a national historical site restored to the period of 1864 when it was the location of the conference on Canadian confederation. Delegates from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Canada East (Quebec) and Canada West (Ontario) came here to discuss the implications of uniting all of British North America into one country.
