A favorite attraction of visitors from around the world, the Whirlpool Aero Car was built in 1916.  Considered daring in its day, the operating machinery was set right into the wall of the gorge and extends from the loading terminal to Thompson's Point although there is no boarding platform at Thompson's point.  The car is suspended over the raging Niagara River at the whirlpool.

The original cable lasted 35 years without replacement and in recent years the entire cable car system has been renovated and upgraded to ensure continued safety.

At a price of $13.50 per person + tax (as of October 2014) it is a pretty short ride and not for those expecting a thrill.
