The Painter's Hall:  A casual yet upscale restaurant. Opened late in 2008 by owners Erin and Shane with a friendly inviting atmosphere. An artistically quaint place, put together with the customers full dining experience in mind. They have created an ambiance that fills the senses. Shane is a wine connoisseur and will magnificently pare the wine with the meal upon request. The food is exquisite with the chef using the freshest and most brilliant array of  ingredients, creating a very pleasing and memorable culinary experience. The Painter's Hall has a two hour window of which they entice patrons to join them at the bar for "$6 till 7:00pm" for drinks and bar menu tastings. The North: A casual upscale dining experience. Fresh local ingredients blend with a casual decor. Chef Marco is visible preparing his delicious creations in the open kitchen. Menu caters to all tastes and there is also a special chef's tasting menu available for your dining surprise. Chef and owner Marco works hard to please with exceptional presentation on all of his dishes.  Reservations required for dinner and recommended for lunch. Always busy. Outdoor patio. Green Mango Tree Thai Fusion : This Thai / Vietnamese fusion restaurant was recently redecorated. Great Thai food and reasonably priced. House specialties include co-po chicken and tamarind sea bass. Service can be slow. Located in Barries busy south end across from Walmart.  Mapleview Drive in the south end of Barrie

Pizzeria Italia : Homestyle Italian cooking, family owned and operated for many years. Fresh pasta dishes, pizza and panzerotti. The caesar salad is is made with their own homemade dressing and fresh parmesan on top. Try the "man-can" dinner with one manicotti and one canneloni. Family friendly, reasonably priced. Shirley's Bayside Grille : Casual fine dining. The menu does not change very often. Apricot chicken is Shirley's signature dish.  There is always pasta, chicken, fish and beef on the menu and there is an outdoor patio with a bit of a lake view for summer dining. The portions are quite large. The crowd is loud and the place is always full. Reservations recommended and it is open for lunch and dinner. Dunlop Street in downtown Barrie east of Mulcaster.

Royal Thai: Tasty Thai food and great service in downtown Barrie. Recently relocated due to the large fire in downtown Barrie. Decor is casual and pleasant and small private dining areas are available for special occasions. Ingredients are fresh and prices reasonable. Newly located on Bayfield Street just north of Dunlop at the five points intersection.

Manhattans: Great location in downtown Barrie serving a variety of menu options. Pasta, beef, chicken always available. Makes a great curry! Reasonably priced and service can be slow so dont be in a hurry. Some tables overlook the lake. One of Barrie's most popular martini bars after 10 pm. On the corner of Dunlop St west and Mulcaster.

Moxie's Classic Grill: Barrie's offering to the chain is a great success. Excellent service and quality food and drinks make this casual dining establishment a huge hit. Serving steaks, pastas , fish and many more options on the large urban menu. Has a great patio and a popular bar area. Resonably priced and very casual. Moxie's has something that will please all and they will make adjustments to the menu items based on dietary needs.  Open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week. Located on Bayfield St  North at the Georgian Mall.

Fitzy's Crab Shack: Great location next door to Manhattans in downtown Barrie.  Casual restaurant with a large bar area. Seafood is the specialty. Mussels,crab, and calamari also available. Has a great (but small) rear patio with a view of the lake. Jerk chicken ceasar salad is a popular dish. Service can be very slow. Entertainment  (usually jazz) on the weekends. Open for lunch and dinner. At the Dunlop St west and Mulcaster intersection.

Michael & Marion's: Upscale dining experience in downtown Barrie. Has a large menu with a variety of options, taking care to use fresh local ingredients. Often has some great specials not on the regular menu. Decor is elegant, quiet and romantic. Has a 'Side Door Cafe' side to the restarant which is a little more casual. Exceptional service with great presenation. Has a small outdoor patio. Open for lunch and dinner with reservations recommended. Located on Bayfield Street at  Worsley St.

Abbotts of Craighurst:Tasty local cusine and good service just north of Barrie on the way to Horseshoe Valley. Located in a renovated century home and showcases local artists on their walls. Small menu always has chicken, pasta, beef and fish on it. Calamari appetizer is cooked to perfection and served with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce. Owner Mark Abbott offers up a quaint decor and resonably priced menu items with generous proportions. Outdoor Patio. Located on Horseshoe Valley Road E (10 minutes north on Hwy 400) at the Hwy 93 intersection.

Tiff's Restaurant and Bar:Popular downtown pub with friendly service. Good variety pub menu with fresh cut french fries. Large portions and reasonably priced. Owner Joe is ofen visible chatting with the patrons. As in all downtown bars, the crowd gets quite young after 11 pm.  Large outdoor patio. Open for lunch and dinner. Located on Dunlop St at Anne Street.

McReilly's Pub and Restaurant:Popular downtown English-style pub with good service. Large menu with typical English pub food. Gererous portions and reasonably priced. Quaint homey atmosphere. After 11 pm the crowd is quite young. Open for lunch and dinner. Located  in the heart of downtown Barrie on Dunlop St west across from Fred Grant ( Memorial) Square.

Mom's Pantry:Popular east end eatery serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Large menu, something for everyone with 'homemade' as the signature for most of the items. Well known for their pies. There is always a number of daily specials. Owned by the Corson family, the decor is homey and comfortable with hockey memorabilia from Shane's career adorning the walls. Always busy, family friendly and great service. Located on Bell Farm Road between Duckworth and St. Vincent Streets.

Wickies Pub and Restaurant: Popular south end pub with great food and service. Neighbourhood pub has a large crowd of regular patrons. Typical pub menu with large portions and fresh cut french fries. Resonably priced, family friendly with an outdoor patio. Open for lunch and dinner. Located at 274 Burton Ave.

Hooters: Located in downtown Barrie, this well known chain restaurant is noted for its shapely servers, and Barrie's location fits the bill. Great location and two-tiered patio on Barrie's beautiful waterfront. Excellent lake views. Specializing in wings and other pub-type food. Open for lunch and dinner. Located on Lakeshore Drive at Mulcaster  St.
