Whistler is a place that can be visited any time of the year because the activities here are ongoing no matter what the season. Visitors’ favorite activities usually vary depending on whether or not it’s summer or winter, but the general consensus is that outdoor activities are the number one thing to do in Whistler.
During the summer, there are many unique types of activities offered. For visitors who enjoy horseback riding or eco hikes/walks, guided tours can be taken on mountain paths. For people who want to advance their fly fishing skills, classes can be taken and guides can be hired through Valley Fishing Guides to bring visitors to some fantastic fishing locations.
Also available are boating excursions down the River of Golden Dreams or around Alta Lake, hiking, mountain biking, all terrain vehicle riding, golfing, or whitewater river rafting. There is also of course the Whistler Bike Park for those who want adrenaline or if you prefer to pedal around check out the Whistler Valley trails (trail maps from the local trail organization)
You may also wish to head south to the Squamish Spit for some outrageous kite-boarding and wind-surfing.
Wintertime offers just as many activities as summertime in Whistler. Most people, however, come to Whistler to ski or snowboard. Some of the other popular winter sports and activities that visitors enjoy are tubing, snowmobiling, dog sledding, snowshoeing, fishing, ice fishing, riding in horse-drawn sleighs, and cross-country skiing.
All year round, you can experience Ziptrek Ecotours. Select from one of two tours that they offer. Whistler Day Tours are also an amazing way to enjoy the many highlights in Whistler as well as the breathtaking sights along the Sea to Sky highway on the way to Whistler such as the unforgettable views along the coastal highway, Porteau Cove, Squamish, Shannon Falls, and Britannia Beach. Luxury Transport offers great private tours and transfers to and from Whistler.
If a break from the outdoors is wanted, there is the Meadow Park Recreation Centre which provides a venue for swimming, skating, or playing a game of squash.
