Roughly 17 km in length with many access points, the Mission Creek Greenway is a trail great for hiking or cycling in Kelowna.  The easiest way to summarize this trail is to divide it into two portions.

The first portion, running from Scenic Canyon Regional Park on the outskirts of town 9km to Ziprick Road is wilder and more isolated while still close to town.  This portion of the trail follows the mission creek canyon and involves a few hill climbs.  There are spectacular views of the canyon from lookouts and Layer Cake Mountain and much of the trail is alongside picturesque Mission Creek.  Wildlife sightings are frequent here and amongst the short detours from the trail there are some small caves.

The second portion, running from Ziprick road to Lakeshore Road is wider and closer to the city.  Whilst still enclosed by trees and running immediately alongside the Mission Creek, this portion of the trail is always close to a buildings and roads.  It would be a much easier portion to ride a bike along.

With plans to extend the park 6 km further at the Scenic Canyon end out towards the falls, this hike will only gain in appeal.  Makes a great day hike or shorter stroll if you tackle only one section.
