Many people head to Lake Louise to take advantage of the excellent ski season in the area (see for more information).  In part to cater to these tourists, there are a number of annual events happening in the area during those winter months.  However, there are events going on during other times of the year as well.  Some of the areas annual events include:

  • Canada Day is the first day of July and is celebrated with a number of local events including parades, sidewalk art competitions and live music.
  • Christmas is important in the area and is celebrated with a range of related events such as the Parade of Lights, Photo's with Santa, & Skiing with Santa at the local Ski Area's.
  • Ice Magic is an ice sculpture event taking place at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise on the last weekend of January each year.  The sculptures remain on display until they melt naturally during the early months of spring.  Not only do they have an Ice Scupting competition but there are also events that weekend for children, click on the provided link for full details.
  • New Year’s Eve finds Lake Louise locals celebrating with a torchlight parade.
  • The Banff Lake Louise Winter Festival is the biggest  annual event in the Lake Louise area, including a diverse group of activities from sports events to nightclub entertainment.
