Try Cafe Press (Coffee Press) on 2nd & 5th for breakfast. It's cheap and they have homemade bread with marmalade which is delicious. Their eggs with peppers, onions, tomatoes, cheese & tortillas is a great way to start the day.
La Cueva del Chango Calle 38 between 5th Ave and the Sea is open for all meals, but comes highly recommended for breakfast. Empanadas or eggs with chaya or nopales provide an authentic Mexican flavor. Be sure to ask about the specials.
100% Natural offers unique options for vegans, vegetarians and anyone wanting a healthy meal.
Updates Jan. 2010: HOT has good eggs benedict and lattes. Tropicale on 5th has great smoothies (try the Vampira) and all the breakfast fixins: eggs many ways, banana bread, fruit and granola.
Breakfast buffets are usually no deal: not so great food for about $1 less than getting a good meal. Note: Coffee refills are usually extra.
