Although the nightlife experiences on the Yucatan Peninsula are spectacular, consider a day trip to nearby attractions. Travelers may arrange day trips through tour groups or with the concierge at their hotel. From ancient Mayan mysteries to secluded beaches, there are a multitude of offerings worth a day of exploration.

Isla de Passion is a gathering place for a variety of travelers. Honeymooners, families, and even college students commonly seek this low traffic, docile island off the coast of Cozumel. Take a tour to answer the nagging question regarding the island's name and indulge in a satisfying meal with a beachside Corona.

Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve may sound particularly remote and ecological in comparison to Isla de Passion. Travelers who fortunately do not permit the institutional title to divert them, discover breezy decks with hammocks and tropical landscape that includes ocean and lagoon within walking distance of each other.  Kayak or fly fish within a sustainable habitat that includes a few minor archaeological sites in the midst of 1.3 million acres of flora and fauna. There is a Sian Ka'an Biosphere Visitors Center a few miles within the northern gates that includes an information desk, a restaurant, a path that takes you to the lagoon, a viewing tower with a spectacular view and a way to organize more extensive trips inside the reserve.

Visit the ruins at Chichen Itza or Tulum for a view into Mayan history. Prior to the invasion of the conquistadors of Spain, the Yucatan Peninsula was the center of an expansive complex of Mayan palaces and sacred sites. Tour guides and educators lead tourists through the history and cultural heritage that gives the visitor a glimpse into the spirit of the Yucatan.

If you like to experience authentic mexican culture and mayan culture at its best you can visit Mérida, the capital of Yucatan. Mérida is an excellent base for your tours to the mayan sites like Uxmal (which most people like better than Chitzen Itza as it has less people, more vegetation, less sellers and you can climb more high and have a look over the surroundings), Labna, Xlapak, Kabah, Dzibilchaltum etc.

Also from Mérida you can do the 3 cenote tour in Cuzama, or visit the cenotes in San Antonio Mulix, vist the hacienda's Ochil, Yaxcopoil or Temozon.
