As in much of Latin America, football, or what Americans refer to as soccer, is the favorite sport in Mexico City.  Three teams call the city home:   Los Pumas, Cruz Azul, and Club America.  Club America plays in Mexico City's Aztec Stadium or Estadio Azteca  which holds over 100,000 people and is very often full to the rafters during matches.  Los Pumas are the team of Ciudad Universitaria, Mexico City's University, and play at the Estadio Olympico, the university's stadium holding over 70,000 fans.

Another sport in Mexico City which is gaining in popularity is American Baseball, a sport already commonly played in many other Latin American countries.  A number of players in the major and minor leagues in the US now come from Mexico.  Los Diablos Rojos de Mexico (The Mexican Red Devils) are Mexico City's baseball team.  They are members of Liga Mexicana de Beisbol, Mexico's professional baseball league.  The stadium where the team plays its home games is Foro Sol.
