add Yallapa day trip by boat:
Boats leave on regular basisfrom the main pier. It's 40+ minutes on the water, into a lovely bay. Liked it very much - nice calm swimming & snorkelling, restaurants on the beach, charming old town to walk around. Peaceful day on a sunny, sandy beach!!!
I would add a day trip to San Sebastian as an outstanding diversion from the usual Puerto Vallarta experience. You would have to hire a car for the day, to take you on a trip into the mountains above Puerto Vallarta, but it is well worth it. Along the way, you can stop at a small artisanal coffee plantation, a small tequila distillery (with a tasting room), as well as the (ancient) Hacienda just outside the town. In the village you will find a small square, an old church, an inn, a few restaurants, and mountain views backdropping the narrow, winding streets with their interesting, well-kept houses. Go in the morning for a full-day adventure. The views each way are magnificent, and you will see a very different side of Mexico just a couple of hours from the beach.
