Trinidad and Tobago is the home of the steel drum, also known as the pan. There are over 100 steel drum bands in the country, and every village takes pride in their hometown groups. Practices take place in the individual band's panyard, and they are often accessible by visitors. There are also performances all over the island. Their music is usually based on the soca rhythm which has a driving beat that makes you want to dance! A visit to Trinidad and Tobago is not complete without experiencing a pan band.
