Visitors trying to figure out what the best mode of transportation is for a Grand Cayman vacation should rest assured that whichever option they decide to go with, they should find transportation to be relatively easy and efficient.  Many visitors opt to rent a car at the airport, but visitors who choose to use a combination of the public bus system and the local taxis seem to get along just as well as those who opt to drive.

Visitors interested in getting around on their own can choose to rent a car, with most car rental occurring upon arrival at the airport.  Drivers are reminded that driving is on the left side of the road, seat belts are required by law and temporary local driver’s licenses must be obtained at the time of car rental.  Visitors can also opt to rent mopeds or scooters for getting around the island.  Helmets are required by law for travelers opting to use this method of transportation.

The public transportation option in Grand Cayman is the public bus, which is actually a series of shuttle van lines running around the island on a bus-like schedule.
