If you a regatta or boat race participant or just a viewer, Grenada is the place where you want to be. There are competitions year round beginning in January with one of the most popular ones: Annual La Source Grenada Sailing Festival. It is a whole week of events from regattas and races to cultural festivals, parties and live musical events in St. George. In the second week of April, check out The Island Easter Regatta, it is a yacht race. This five-day event was initiated in 1969 when the first race took place with 18 vessels. Discontinued in 1991, it was established again in the last few years with huge success. Check out their website at www.aroundgrenada.com for date updates and current regulations.Unfortunately it was cancelled in 2010 and has not taken place again since.

However there are two more sailing events, th Grenada Sailing Week www.grenadasailingweek.com and the South Grenada Regatta www.southgrenadaregatta.com

On June 29th, don’t miss the Fisherman’s Birthday Celebrations. It owns a religious spirit as it celebrates Saint Peter and Saint Paul’s day. It is local based although it congregates an international crowd. There are fishing events and boat races, lots of music, food and parties.
