This is why I came to Saudi Arabia. I remember seeing photos of this place for the first time years ago and made it my mission to get here. Mada'in Saleh was built over 2,000 years ago by the Nabateans and is located just north of Al-ʿUla. This tomb stands alone in the desert but you’ll find more than 100 tombs in the surrounding area of Mada'in Saleh. If you look closely you’ll see me in the shadow of the tomb fighting the wind with my Mavic Zoom.

Mecca, Saudi Arabia, is the birthplace of the Muslim Prophet Muhammad and of the faith itself. Ramadan is a month of fasting to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran, the religious text of Islam, to Muhammad. It is also a time for families to gather and celebrate. "Growing up, history was one of my favorite subjects. I loved learning about ancient tombs and royal burial sites. So, it only made sense that Mada’in Saleh caught my attention as an adult. The ancient archaeological site dates as far back as the 1st century and remains the largest conserved site of the civilization of the Nabataeans south of Petra."
