“Celebrating festivities at Stoneriver Dining”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 15, 2013

My friend and I visited Stoneriver Dining last night. The Xmas decorations as we approached were absolutely pleasing to the eye and captivating. Great job! The parking lot was completely full but we managed to find a spot at the property entrance roadway along the barn at the west side of the property line.

It was freezing cold outside and as soon as we entered the Stoneriver Dining establishment, you could smell a wood burning fireplace, great displayed Xmas decorations and experience the noteworthy etiquette and warm welcome from staff including the owner and his "sweetie".

There were sounds of laughter, cheers, singing from other dining rooms as we were accompanied to our designated seats. It was quite relevant to the festive season that we are in and added to our Xmas spirit throughout the evening. Our meals, our beverages were certainly worth waiting a few minutes for taking into considerartion that it was a full house that evening. After all, it's Xmas season and people should just lighten up a bit, de-stress over great wine, excellent food and good people and benefit from a great ambiance and music. The servers were accommodating and had a professional and warm manner with us throughout our stay. We were presented at the end of the evening with a card inviting us to return and dine at Stoneriver Dining and by presenting the card we would receive a complimentary glass of their house wine with a purchase of a main meal. They even added that cards could propabably be given to people you brought along and stamped as you arrived so that they could also enjoy that glass of wine!

All I can add is that it's a must-see place, must dine out place, and we will certainly return soon.

Thank you Stoneriver Dining for a pleasant and fun evening.

My family and I had the most pleasurable experince at stoneriver dining this past week. we were blown away by the beauty of the restaurant. the decor allows the simplistic beauty of the food to really shine. our dishes were executed perfectly. the restaurant is filled with great energy. our evening was very enjoyable. not only was the atmosphere great but the staffs knowledge of the menu and wine was very helpfull in making our decision perfect.the staff and owner Jim took the time to make us feel welcome. if your looking for a great night out with friends or family I would highly recommend Stoneriverdinning your restaurant of choice. you won`t regret it. I know we didn`t. «thank you Stoneriverdinning. we will be back.

“Confusion! ”

Not sure if they know what they're doing in this place. Seemed very amateur like and disorganized. Did not like the owner too! Will Never go back.

“Poor with groups”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2013

Gotta say, I had high expectations going in but was very disappointed leaving. We had booked a group of 8 people for a Christmas get together about a month in advance. Arrived to find extra parking plowed out and beautiful outside Christmas decorations. Inside we were met by a very friendly staff and taken to our table. This was at 6.30pm. It was obvious that things would be a bit slow given the large numbers of people and it being a Saturday evening before Christmas, but we had no idea just how slow!

6.45pm - drink orders were taken.

7.00pm - our last party member arrived late but told the staff and we were now good to go.

7.15pm - Menus brought out. Every single drink glass at the table was now empty and despite trying to flag down the waitress we couldn't get a drink order. Seemed to be 2 waitresses serving a room of about 25 people and given how often they were gone I suspect they were serving another room as well.

7.30pm - Waitress starts taking orders.

8.30pm - appetizers finally arrive. Everyone has been chewing on the bread for over 30 minutes.

9.00pm - waitress is asked "how much longer until main course", "any time now" was the reply.

10.00pm - Main dishes finally arrive. 2.5 hours after ordering! Expected a bit more content on the plate. Single small scoop of potato, 5 or 6 beans, a slice of turnip and a bit of cabbage.

10.45pm - Waitress asks if we would like dessert, coffee or tea. Everyone says no given the long time that we have been sitting.

11.00pm - bills arrive. Every one of them is either messed up or given to the wrong couple. We fix the bills between us because it would just be to much to get the waitress to sort them out.

11.15pm - paid and out of there.

Fortunately, our group was not in a hurry and we made the best of the constant waiting. We never got snippy with the waitresses or the staff but we were definitely disappointed. No one left raving about the food or service.

Our waitresses seemed confused the entire time. They had pencil drawings of who was sitting where and still couldn't put the right dish in front of the right customers. All the items were on the bills but not the right ones.

As for the food, I started with the tenderloin tips - YUMMY but only 4 on the plate for 13 bucks? Wow. Supper was the 12oz Rib Steak. It was ok but you could tell it was sitting under a lamp for awhile, very disappointing considering the cost and time. I was expecting an unbelievable piece of meat with great seasoning. Nope.

During the 4.5 hours I was only offered a drink twice and the table received very little attention. So what is the story here? Not enough staff? Staff hired just for Christmas who are unfamiliar with the procedures? An overwelmed kitchen? To many guests? Not sure, but the end result was poor service and food.

I would strongly recommend that Stoneriver dinning close some of their eating rooms and cut back on their customers to something that the kitchen can handle properly and then you could probably have 2 sittings and put through the same amount of people. By having that many people arriving all at once everyone is bound to sit there for 5 hours.

Will probably try again at a quieter time of year just to gauge a 2nd visit. The place has potential and I would be surprised if this was the best they can do. But they sure didn't hit the mark on this trip.
