“DEFINIELY NOT 4 STAR...disappointed”
Reviewed July 29, 2011

This B and B is rated by the QUEBEC tourist board as 4 star. IT IS CERTAINLY NOT
Unfortunately the owner had had an accident , she greeted us, but her sister was acting as 'host'. The B and B is in a well renovated house. The room as fine. The level of service though is non exsistent. For example the room is not made up at the end of each night, no one checks if you need anything such as replacing wet towels.. The breakfast is the worst we have had anywhere. You have a small kitchen area and have to help yourself. A bit like in a motel. No one checks if everything is okay. The bread in the fridge for toast was MOULDY and we had to throw it out, the packet of bagels were out of date. We were left with one cling filmed croissent each. Only decent food was some home made jam. There was a big tub of margarine...no butter.......which had other peoples crumbs and jam in it. All in all REALLY poor. On top of that there is a clear messgae that you MUST do your own washing up and clearing away.......we were on holiday! This of course the relies on other people cleaning their dishes well. We found a dirty glass and had to check over the dishes. On top of that there is a lovely terrace , we sat out there and found an full ash tray that clearly hadnt been checked/emptied, because the ends were floating in rain water.
We could take all of this if this was a 'cheap' stay , but this was the most expensive B and B that we had a quote for. We selected it because we wanted something a bit special. We paid 92 dollars per night. NOT GOOD VALUE at all.
This B and B need re classifying from 4 star. The review above is now out of dat.e This is no longer the case. We both felt that with the lack of service we were in a hostel. Everything was 'sort yourself out'. There are written messages all over th place ( just like in a cheap hostel) ie do this , dont do that.
Very sadly we cannot recommend this Band B at all.

My boyfriend and I went to this bed and breakfast in July, 2010. The bed and breakfast is housed in large historical building that has been beautifully restored. The owners are two lovely people, Renee and Maurice, who are also artists so there is an artistic flair throughout the home. There are four rooms total that you can stay in. Each one is uniquely decorated with different colors and themes. Each one has a nice view overlooking Sorel.

The owners are very pleasant (and they also speak English if French isn't your strong point) and eager to serve you. Renee will cook you a fabulous breakfast that you can eat on the beautiful deck outdoors, or that you can eat in a lovely breakfast nook. Each morning there are fresh croissants with a variety of spreads and fresh coffee. Renee will ask you the evening before when you would like breakfast served, and will even whip you up a homemade specialty.

Le 12 George is the only hotel in Sorel, and it's a good thing because it's so great it would put anyone else out of business. :) I definitely recommend staying here. Sorel may be a small town, but there is A LOT to see and do. You will not be disappointed.
