“Walk Towards Heaven”
Reviewed August 24, 2014

I liked the atmosphere, the vaulted ceilings and the columns all in excellent condition. The nice walk through gardens and roses here and there climbing up the walls.

“Great location but alas poor food”
Reviewed July 2, 2014

The location of the terrace restaurant is magnificent - under trees with a beautiful view on the monastery. The service - dressed in traditional attire - was also attentive and friendly. The good experience ended alas there. Though the menu looked quite appealing with an emphasis on regional product the food that was served was disappointing. The first course - a soup reminiscent of a Campell soup- was way too salty, so we sent it back. The salad was crowned with thick unsavoury pan-fried semolina chunks. The leg of lamb was drowned in a thick salty (flavour enhancer?) gravy, served with a bland Ratatouille that may have seen some Mediterranean herbs from a safe distance but certainly didn't mingle with them (instead compensated with a hearty pinch of sugar and salt) and a mushy potatoe gratin. The food for the kids was the usual fried fish but even there the texture of the fish evoked cardboard. In short: we experienced better food in some canteens. After complaints, the restaurant was kind enough to offer a coffee and ice-cream for the kids which as nice a gesture this may be does not compensate for the bad experience. It's a shame as the place is otherwise fantastic. Go there to have a beer or a coffee.

“Very nice place for a cozy meal”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

We felt like spending some time outside the city of Frankfurt to see the beautiful surroundings of the city. 30 minutes drive direction Wiesbaden we got into a hilly and lush area. The monastery is super well maintained and the dining room very nice with alcoves. Staff were friendly, the menu was seasonal and the dishes delicious.

“Dramatic setting for traditional food”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

It doesn't get much better than lunch on the terrace with wine/beer and good, honest food. Lots of choice on a mouth-watering menu and the dishes didn't disappoint.

“A great place for local food, especially in warm season, when you can sit outside!”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

I visited this place several times since my first time in January 2007, and I love German food they cook here and always eat here with great pleasure.
My most favorites are "Steinberger Rieslingcremesuppe" (EUR 5,20), "Graved salmon on sauerkraut potato patties with horseradish and salad" (12.80) and "oven fresh Farm duck on sauce pinot noir with glaced apple-cabbage and potato dumplings" - a specialty from "Enten Menüs" for 32 Euro per person - probably the best crisp skin duck legs in Germany!
And you can accompany your dishes with Kloster Eberbach wines (also mature ones!) that are sold here at very reasonable prices.
And a visit to the historical monastery itself - Kloster Eberbach, or even a wine tasting tour there might be a very good idea!
