Auberge du Rayon Vert
Reviewed October 10, 2013

I always go to Dan's Creek and can't believe how many times I drove by Rayon Vert and never noticed. My loss because the rooms are better and the food...is too good to describe. There is an authentic French chef there who has daily specials but will whip you up something special if you ask. You can't miss this place, even if it's only for dinner. The rooms are spacious clean and comfortable. And what an honest service staff. I left a dollar on my pillow for the cleaning lady. When I returned she made my bed and the dollar was neatly placed back on the pillow. Wow, this wonderful woman was also pregnant. Needless to say, I generously tipped her hand upon my exit of the hotel. Brunette, I presume the concierge, was very kind, polite and professional. She speaks English well and was attentive to a quickly needed ceiling fan repair. The hotel is expanding and when it is complete will triple in size and I'll bet quadruple as a pleasant place to stay. Miles of beach just lay across a quiet street. Great for families or weekenders.

Room Tip: The suite is a great value for 3 or more people. 2 double beds and two single beds.

After completing a Medical Mission trip in Les Cayes a few colleagues and I decided to spend our last weekend in Port Salut. So grateful that we ended up at Auberge!
I can not say enough about the staff, the owners, the property the food and spacious rooms.
Like all travel some places are a HIT or miss.
THIS MY FRIEND IS A HIT!
The sites that are a miss usually play out like this - Either the lodging is great but the food not so good or excellent food but rude staff or an unconcerned owner. At Auberge you will find the best of it all! Despite having family with comfortable homes in Port Salut I will always make it a point to spend at least 1 night at this hotel every time I travel to Haiti.
Happy travels and Vive Ayiti Cheri!

Not sure if I enjoyed the gorgeous water view or the AC best! This place is by far the finest in the area. Keeping your expectations in context, you'll be fine. The room was clean and the bed was clean. You come to appreciate these things in Haiti. The owners are friendly and accommodating.

Five of us (mid twenties) were traveling around Haiti just for fun (probably the only ones not with an NGO or some church/med group). We stayed at Hotel du Village, which is under the same ownership as Rayon Vert and just across the street (du Village guests use the Rayon Vert restaurant). The French owners are friendly, the rooms at du Village are simple but clean and nice (with AC), and the beach is right there. The included breakfast was excellent, and they even packed us with coffe and sandwiches the night before when we left the following morning at 5AM (we didn't ask for this, they kindly offered). The dinner at Rayon Vert is excellent! And it's about a 30 min walk to a cool waterfall where you can have a dip (50G entry). Also consider checking out the caves in Port au Piment (40 minz drive and 15 minz walking).

Room Tip: Stay at du Village (a little cheaper) and eat at Rayon Vert.

This place is a little bit of paradise in Haiti.
Port-Salut in itself is a great little town, and this restaurant is ideal when one wants to change of scenery for a week-end.
Excellent food, very nice and quiet rooms.
The owner and the staff are really friendly and make you feel at home.
The best hotel I have seen so far in Haiti, in more than 2 years.

Port-Salut is one of the most beautiful places in Haiti. We had the pleasure of staying in this wonderful hotel. The owner Cristian was a wonderful host. The rooms are spacious, have air conditioning, clean beads and modern restrooms. The room fees also include free breakfast, wow now that was breakfast!!! Breakfast included: coffee, fresh lemonade, fruit, cheese and croissant, omelet and jam. They have a wonderful beach just across the street, it is peaceful and very enjoyable. My partner and I had a wonderful time there, we truly recommend this hotel.

If you are in port-Salut for a couple of days don’t forget to visit the caves in Port-à-Piment , it is 45 minutes from the hotel. If you do visit, make sure to bring comfy shoes and be prepare to get dirty.

Enjoy!!!!

Only a few steps from the beach we found modern, clean rooms, well furnished with a lot of space. The bathroom had two washbasins and the toilet had its separate door.

The restaurant is french cuisine at its best, nicely decorated. The owner and his wife as well as the rest of the staff were friendly and and gave us the feeling being welcome.

We enjoyed our stay every minute. Very relaxing.
