Owner description: At his studio/workshop in Clogher, Ballyferriter, on the Dingle Peninsula, Louis Mulcahy designs and makes the very best Irish craft Pottery in robust stoneware and exquisite fine porcelain. Louis Mulcahy has been potting for over forty years. The last of the big potteries making all their pottery exclusively in Ireland, his workshop and its sister companies in weaving and lampshade decoration have grown from his and his wife Lisbeth's original two-man operation to employ over twenty people. Pottery Experience At our pottery we have an area dedicated to those visitors who wish to experience the craft for themselves. A professional thrower can be seen going through the daily routine of throwing pots. This person will deal with all the questions that may arise pertaining to the process and even allow visitors try their skill at making a shape. Learn how the pottery is made from start to finish - during the Summer (July & August) we offer fully guided workshop tours. (Pre-booking essential). This gives visitors an interesting break on their Slea Head tour. “Brilliant service & make your own pot experience was excellent” - Sara Marcozi, UK

We stayed right near this pottery store/workshop/cafe for a week and finally visited it on one of our last days. It was well worth stopping in, the pottery is beautiful as are some of other things they sell, like the scarves, wall hangings, and jewelry. The cafe is nice and smells delicious! Staff were friendly and helpful. There was a lovely donkey hiding behind the hedge across the street, braying loudly and insistently!

We went here so the kids could have a go at some pottery making. There was a long queue, we were given numbers and told it would be about an hour to wait. This was not a problem as there is a lovely café, with amazing tray bakes, fabulous strong coffee and free Wi-Fi, everyone was catered for! The kids really enjoyed making the pottery, and the lady, whose name escapes me, was brilliant at helping them to make their pots. We went for the 20E option and are waiting with anticipation for our hand made pots to arrive. Really great fun and not to be missed.

While driving the Dingle loop we wandered into Louis Mulcahy Pottery shop and my travelling partners and I were so glad we did. Of course the pottery was spectacular but the shop was so well but together with even a room to watch the potters at work. They also have a fine cafe on the second floor that serves all their food on Mulcahy pottery. The pottery prices where reasonable and the staff very friendly...like all Irish folks we meet. Shipping back to the states was also reasonable.

Great place to stop on the Slea head drive. You can make your own master piece from as little as €4 up to €19.50 to have it fire blasted and posted etc. They also have an extensive range of items and a cafe if you are feeling peckish.
