Adinfern Estate
Reviewed June 4, 2012

We have stayed at Adinfern Estate on many an occasion and have enjoyed each visit with gusto. Our hosts Jan, Merv and Ian have always made us feel welcome and provide us with that "home away from home" service. We managed to escape Perth for the WA Day long weekend and having arrived late on the Friday evening, it was a lovely surprise to find the porch light on and the pot belly stove alight - what a great way to start the break! Being self contained, there is everything supplied that you could possibly need and best of all, it is only a hop, skip and a jump across the lawn to the cellar door; the SSB is a sure hit! If you feel like a morning or afternoon stroll, head down to the dam and check out the sheep, rabbits and ample birdlife; very relaxing. The location is central to all that the region has to offer and we have used this venue as our "base" for years. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Both chalets on the estate are equally comfortable and fully-equipped with all the comforts of home.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed in the cottages at Adinfern Winery and although they are in a beautiful location, have adequate space and lovely views, they really could do with a thorough clean. We found no-end of cobwebs around the place and some of the windows were really dirty. The magnetic strip on the door closure to the shower also did not work therefore allowing water to seep out over the bathroom/laundry floor. Just a little more attention to detail is needed.
Having said all of the above, our stay there was lovely, convenient to Margaret River and the surrounds. Although the Adinfern cottages are situated on the very busy Bussell Highway, you do not hear the sounds of the traffic rumbling by. Obviously the construction of the cottage being "mud bricks" is a great insulator and noise barrier.
We were there in the Autumn or beginning of, and the evenings were getting a little cool so the ability to light a wood fire was wonderful. So warm and toasty!
Waking up in the mornings to see the sheep wandering in and out of the vines and the little fairy wrens hopping around was beautiful.
We will certainly be back and look forward to the cottages receiving some tlc.

Decent place. Furniture a little outdated and lots of earwig bugs (!!) in the house but a nice place on the whole. Is nice being able to overlook the vineyard and watch the rabbits! Only thing, hot water runs out veryyyy quickly! Barely had time to wash my hair before the water was cold!
