Cheryl and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chambourcin Cottage in lovely Haumoana on Hawke's Bay. Situated in the heart of wine country with easy access to numerous points of interest (vineyards, orchards, beaches, hike and bike trails, Cape Kidnappers, and Te Mata Peak, among others), as well as to a wide variety of outdoor recreational and cultural activities, we found The Cottage to be very comfortable, and nicely, practically, and thoughtfully (complimentary "extras" included the use of bicycles, beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, and picnic supplies) appointed. Bruce and Kim are friendly, gracious hosts with a cornucopia of local knowledge who go the extra mile to ensure that your stay is memorable. Whether planning a quiet, relaxing weekend getaway, or a comfortable, centrally located "base of operations" from which to enjoy all Hawke's Bay has to offer, The Cottage absolutely fits the bill. We look forward to our next visit.
We LOVED Chambourcin Cottage! Five stars in every way. What a perfect home base for our first visit to New Zealand - an incredible view of the estate’s vineyard, neighboring apple orchards, and wonderful natural landscape beyond. The cottage is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean, cozy & spacious. Bruce and Kim are wonderful hosts - No detail was overlooked - there were so many nice touches, including bikes, wine, coffee, beach towels, and laundry. Close to vineyards, beaches, and so much more. We had a blast and highly recommend Chambourcin Cottage. We will be back!
Chambourcin Cottage - what a wonderful place. So well located - nestled in it's own vineyard, and then surrounded by many other beautiful vineyards, as close as a walk or cycle away. Kim and Bruce were so welcoming, from the first email interaction, and were extremely generous with local knowledge of local vineyards and restaurants. The cottage itself is stylishly appointed, with no detail overlooked. The most beautiful accommodation on our North Island holiday. A real find!
From the moment we walked into Chambourcin Cottage (The Cottage) wehave to admit we fell in love with our home away from home. The décor, attention to detail and the welcoming feeling was so apparent. Everything you could possibly need was provided. A large bedroom with a wonderfully comfortable bed and plenty of storage and a lovely screened porch area to sit and relax. Flowers on the table welcomed us in the living space as well as maps and information about places of interest. The TV even had Netflix. The huge laundry room that provided everything you could need to catch up on the washing that everyone has when travelling was great. Great bathroom and lovely vanity area, again, providing all you needed for your stay. The kitchen was as very well equipped as any I have ever seen.
When you walk out of the Cottage what greets you is the vineyard. So picturesque. Bikes were provided and we took many bike rides including a bike ride around four local wineries and a bike ride along the coast path. Just wonderful.
Again, the attention to detail at the Cottage was delightful. We were surprised to find milk, butter, yogurt and jams in the fridge, and a basket with fresh eggs, fresh fruit, granola and slices of lovely thick f bread for toast. As this was not a bed and breakfast, this was completely unexpected. We were also provide with a complimentary bottle of wine from the vineyard. Other samplings of local grown wines were also provided at a very good cost.
And to top if off the owners (Bruce and Kim) of the Cottage are a wonderful couple of who could not have given us a more friendly welcome. They were able to recommend and suggest places to go and see and were always available for questions.
We would without hesitation recommend The Cottage to anyone who may be planning to be in the Hawkes Bay area of North Island, New Zealand.
Wow. I never take the time to write reviews, but I simply had to review The Cottage.
My husband and I booked our stay directly on their Chambourcin Cottage website and spent 4 incredible nights celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. Can I say wow again? We are seasoned world travelers and this was, without doubt, the most charming and enchanting place we've stayed at. It is a newly renovated cottage with high-end furnishings (the furniture, the lights, the bedding, the dishes!!!!!) and the absolutely EVERYTHING you can imagine you'll need. There are amazing views overlooking a pristine vineyard, and mountains in the background! They offer complimentary brand new bikes for exploring the local wineries, the nicest laundry room I've come across in a holiday rental, and a superb breakfast basket for the first morning. We are gluten intolerant and Bruce makes his own granola which is to die for. Did I mention the technology? Unlimited wifi of course, but also a cottage subscription to Spotify and Netflix and there is a SONOS speaker as well. My tech husband was very happy. Kim and Bruce were such a nice couple and really made our experience that much more special. We have already booked for next year. Well done Chambourcin Cottage!

The Cottage is just an amazing place to stay, such a special location and experience, I want to go back already! There is no better accommodation in this area and we only wish we could have stayed longer. Where do we even begin? Nothing beats the gorgeous view overlooking Kim and Bruce’s vineyards. The decor and the cottage itself is beautifully designed. The interior design is magnificent, with everything from the furniture to the light fixtures carefully thought out. The place is immaculate and extremely clean. Bruce and Kim have thought of every possible amenity you can think of: from full kitchen set and laundry to awesome espresso machine to full kitchen set and Netflix to SONOS sound system. Two great bikes are provided (helmet and lock too!), and we were well equipped to explore the many vineyards in the area. They also provided us with a bottle of wine made from their very own grapes and a wonderful breakfast basket. Lovey Kim was there if you needed her, but gave us absolute privacy. If you are looking for a magical getaway on a vineyard, this is it!
