“Excellent food and great service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2012

Twelve of us went there for dinner on Friday evening arriving at 7pm after a busy day of travel. We were greeted by Tom who as a new server did an excellent job of welcoming us and settling us in. The food was great especially the fish and lamb dishes followed very closely by the Sticky Toffee! We will be back it was excellent.

“ok for price”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

Have eaten here a couple of times before in previous years and the menu is still the same, so a bit repetitive. No specials board either. Book in advance as all tables are reserved. Meal was ok, nothing special.

“With sadness”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 2, 2012

I booked a table in the restaurant part of this establishment on a Sunday for 7pm on the Monday evening. It was a special occasion, on holiday, a meal out with the family. Not our first visit, in fact I booked a table for the Thursday as well as we have had many a good meal here. We arrived at 7 to be told our table was occupied and they didn't know how long it would be as the occupants had only sat down at 6pm. We were told to get a drink at the bar, no where to sit....difficult with an 81 year old father in law. We were taken to our table at 7.40 pm. Our table was an oblong table in the bar with a round table stuck on the end to accommodate our numbers. No apology was forthcoming for our wait. The meal was average a great disappointment compared with the fine dining experience from last year. The atmosphere was so stressful you felt like getting up and helping the waiters do their job.I feel the management are going for quantity not quality, it was more like a school canteen than a refined eating establishment. At the end of the evening I mentioned that an apology in respect of our wait would have been appreciated and that I understood how busy they were. This request was met by sarcasm from the manager and a complete lack of empathy from the receptionist/head waitress, it was at this point I decided to leave feeling greatly saddened.

“Excellent service, food and great value accommodation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2012 via mobile

This was my second stay here this year. Since my last visit the establishment has changed hands, but the quality of the food and service is still as good if not better. The Salutation (the pub opposite) which is under the same ownership, serves similar high quality food in a friendly environment. Both premises have a good selection of different real ales, so this is a real ale drinkers heaven. The residents of Threlkeld are so lucky to have these two establishments. Well done to the staff and management, don't change anything!
